The Board Retreat

THE BOARD RETREAT

FULFIL YOUR MISSION

Your organisation exists with a purpose and your board is instrumental in achieving it.

A well planned retreat in stimulating surroundings will ensure that your board are passionate, engaged and fully connected to your mission.  It will free them from their routine demands and activities for an extended period of concentrated discussion, dialogue, and strategic thinking.  It will enlist their creative participation in setting goals and contributing to decisions.

Since effective retreats are conducive to teamwork, authenticity, creative thinking and consensus building, they also tend to generate concrete approaches for tackling long-standing or complex organisational issues .

Of course, in order to work well together, participants need to feel comfortable together and enjoy their company and interactions.  Part of the strength of a retreat comes not just from working on problems, but also from building relationships.

A retreat can also be a great way to teach new members about your organisation’s goals and customs.

It is good practice to conduct a retreat on an annual basis to consider your strategic direction and define and prioritise your key objectives.

A retreat should provide ample social and networking time – we can weave a number of leisure activities into the retreat

Château Mont Joly is situated in the heart of the acclaimed Jurançon wine region in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Each retreat is precisely tailored to our client’s objectives and beyond facilitating the retreat, we can also coach your team.  We can run some unique and powerful team exercises on-site to build teamwork and really energise your participants. Our programme will ensure peak participation, focus and efficient use of time.

Of course, a retreat should provide ample social and networking time.  A number of leisure activities can also be woven into the retreat.  These range from trekking in the Pyrenees, cycling, zip-lining, rafting and canyoning to more gentle pursuits such as wine tasting or mindfulness and meditation.

By the close of the retreat, you will have ample input for a formal action plan.   We will document the results of the retreat in the form of a report prepared shortly after the event’s close,  This will establish continuity and help the board follow up on its intentions.

We recommend periodic check-ins with us for a few months after the retreat to maintain focus on agreed actions and progress,

We often support participants with executive coaching as well.

Château Mont Joly

Château Mont Joly is the residence of Jag and Claudia Mundi.  They have renovated it in a stylish, comfortable manner and we are proud that it is a family home and not a hotel. We believe this adds to the relaxed and authentic experience that enables guests to truly be ‘themselves’. The wide vistas to snowcapped mountains, the peace of the countryside and contact with nature facilitate a total release from the pressures of modern life and allow the transformation process to begin.

“The whole experience of our Board offsite was deeply rewarding for everyone involved. The unique environment, coupled with the coaching and feedback provided us with valuable experiences and learning that we used once back in our work place… everyone took something away that has significantly helped them in their work and personal life. We would highly recommend this programme which should be seen as the beginning of a journey of improving one’s professional and personal life.”

Accommodation

Four double bedrooms in the chateau.  Additional accommodation is available at a nearby and highly rated boutique Chambre d’Hote while our stables and ‘The Coach House’ are being renovated.  Our catering uses home cooked local produce, often using ingredients from our potager and orchard and eggs from our chickens.
